At Last, the Metal Gear remake is on itch.io
My last uploaded game, Accretion was deemed Good Enough™ as an intake assignment, and after an intake interview, I managed to get accepted into my new studies: Creative Media and Game Technologies (CMGT) at the Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS).
This, then, is the result of Block A of this year. I handed in the final version a bit over a week ago.
Our assignment was an individual one: make a stealth game à la Metal Gear for the MSX. We were provided a basic template, and were allowed (encouraged even) to make use of some of the original assets (provided, of course, we credit the appropriate sources), which I did. We also had some restrictions, the major one being we were not allowed to make use of STL functions (such as containers, streams, iterators, or smart pointers). My aim was to make an accurate recreation of the first floor of the first building in the game.
Due to this being the first block and still having to get used to the workflow, I only managed to implement some of the basic features. Were I to repeat the assignment, I would try to emulate the game even further by adding a UI, inventory, radio, and interactable items.
I did include some music and sound effects, as well as a save and load system.
